A year at our school

Harmony Day

At our school, Harmony Day is a meaningful celebration where we come together to recognise and respect the rich cultural diversity of our students and community. It is a time to promote inclusiveness and a sense of belonging for everyone, no matter their background or culture. Through activities like cultural performances, shared food, and classroom discussions, we celebrate the unique contributions each person brings to our school community. Harmony Day reminds us all that embracing diversity helps create a supportive and united school environment.

Shimmering Showcase

Our primary school’s Shimmering Showcase is an exciting art event where students proudly display their creative work. This vibrant exhibition features a variety of artworks, including paintings, drawings, and crafts, all highlighting the unique talents and imagination of our young artists. The Shimmering Showcase brings our school community together to celebrate creativity, expression, and the joy of art in a fun and inspiring environment.

TSPS Derby

The TSPS Derby is a fun and exciting community event at our primary school where students design and build their own pinewood derby cars to compete in thrilling races. It’s a great opportunity for creativity, teamwork, and friendly competition. Parents and staff also join in the fun by entering their own cars, making the event a special way to bring the whole school community together for a day of family fun and friendly rivalry.

Zing Active Dance

Zing ActiV Dance brings energy, creativity and fun to Truscott Street Public School! Students have the opportunity to develop their dance skills, build confidence and express themselves through movement. With engaging music, exciting routines and plenty of enthusiasm, every session encourages students to participate, challenge themselves and enjoy being active. Zing ActiV Dance is a wonderful way for students to develop coordination, teamwork and performance skills while having fun with their friends. It is a vibrant program that celebrates movement, creativity and the joy of dance.

NAIDOC Celebrations

Our NAIDOC Celebrations Dance is a vibrant and meaningful part of our school’s annual celebrations. Students come together to learn, perform and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through music and movement. The dance provides an opportunity for students to develop their understanding and appreciation of Australia’s rich First Nations heritage while expressing themselves creatively. Through participation, students build confidence, teamwork and respect for culture and community. Our NAIDOC dance is a joyful celebration that brings our school community together and recognises the importance of learning from, respecting and celebrating the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

Harmony Day Celebrations

Our Harmony Day Celebrations Dance is a joyful and colourful celebration of the diversity that makes our school community special. Students come together through music and movement to celebrate different cultures, traditions and backgrounds. The dance encourages students to share in the spirit of Harmony Day by promoting inclusion, respect, friendship and a strong sense of belonging. Through learning and performing together, students develop confidence, teamwork and an appreciation of the many cultures represented within our community. It is a vibrant celebration that brings students, families and staff together to celebrate diversity, connection and the message that everyone belongs.

Sporting Carnivals

Our sporting carnivals are exciting highlights of the school year, bringing students together to participate, compete and celebrate their achievements. Students have the opportunity to showcase their skills in athletics, swimming and cross country while demonstrating teamwork, persistence, sportsmanship and school spirit. Our carnivals encourage every student to have a go, challenge themselves and support their classmates. With enthusiastic cheering, friendly competition and plenty of fun, these events create wonderful memories for students and families. Our sporting carnivals celebrate participation, achievement and the importance of being active, healthy and connected as part of the Truscott Street Public School community.

SportsPro

Our partnership with SportsPro provides students with an exciting opportunity to develop their gymnastics skills in a fun, supportive and engaging environment. Through professionally delivered gymnastics sessions, students develop strength, flexibility, balance, coordination and body awareness while building confidence and resilience. The program encourages students to challenge themselves, learn new skills and celebrate their individual progress. Students enjoy participating in a range of activities designed to suit different abilities and experience levels. Our partnership with SportsPro supports our commitment to providing quality sporting opportunities that promote physical wellbeing, confidence, teamwork and a lifelong enjoyment of being active.
